Wednesday

Yesterday I did nothing, except school and work. After I left school, I went home and studied until about 9:00. Then I rented a movie. The movie was a Thai action movie. It was ok, really low budget, but it reminded me of old Jackie Chan movies. The main character did all of his own stunts and was really athletic.

Today I had more school and work. Later I went home and cooked beef stroganoff. It was pretty good. I really dont mind cooking: it's kind of fun. Its really good if everything turns out ok. At about 9:00, I met Seika-san, and we went to look at a desk that she is going to buy. It is a little big, so we will go back on Tuesday and pick it up with a truck.

Anyway... I dont know if I will continue to write this blog. I dont think anyone reads it, and no one comments. If you are reading this, let me know what you think. Should I continue? or Just let it die in peace?

Here is a fun poem. Try to say it fast. Even i can't, and I like these things.

Betty Botter bought some butter,
"But," she said, "the butter's bitter;
If I put it in my batter,
It will make my batter bitter;
But a bit of better butter,
That would make my batter better."
So she bought a bit of butter,
Better than her bitter butter,
And she put it in her batter,
And the batter was not bitter;
So 'twas better Betty Botter
Bought a bit of better butter.

More Work, More School

Recently I have just been working. Today was actually really busy for me in the office, but really slow at the restaurant. I finished work early tonight. Luckily I am finished with most of my homework for a while, so I dont have to worry about that. Yesterday I went to Boarders and studied for 2 or 3 hours. Tomorrow i will probably wash my clothes and then go to the library. I need to start researching for my paper. It isn't due until November, but i want to get started early because I know I will be really busy in about a month.

Just a word of advice: Buy gas now!!! The price is only going to get higher for a month.

Here is a poem about Helen of Troy. I think it is interestinng because she is usually thought of as the most beautiful woman ever, but this has a different take.

All Greece hates
the still eyes in the white face,
the lustre of olives
where she stands,
and the white hands.
All Greece reviles
the wan face when she smiles,
hating it deeper still
when it grows wan and white,
remembering past enchantments
and past ills.

Greece sees unmoved,
God's daughter, born of love,
the beauty of cool feet
and slenderest knees,
coul love indeed the maid,
only if she were laid,
white ash amid funereal cypresses.

H.D.

Saturday Night

Yesturday was kind of fun. I went to work in the morning, and then I went to the mall. I bought 2 shirts, 2 T-shirts, and a pair of jeans. They all look cool and were really cheap. Later I went home and cleaned a little. At about 8:00 I picked up Yoko, Yuka, and Kana, and we went to the bar. We came back later, met more people, and went to a party.

Friday was Michi's birthday (Happy B-day, Michi), so we went to Dennis's house. The party was ok, and we left around 1:30.

Yoko is leaving on Sunday, so i hope she has a good time in South Dakota. Kana is now in California. Good luck everyone.

Here is a funny song about Christmas. It is from a whole album about X-mas by The Vandals. Every song on the CD is really funny, and I think in December (if i am still writing this...), I will put lyrics from most of the songs.

I don't believe in Santa Clause
His corporate image forced upon
The blinded spending masses
To enslave the lower classes
With obligatory gifts that serve
To cleanse a year of guilt and shame
One token gesture justifies
The apathetic, hypnotized
Leaving them to be Kris Kringle's slaves!
Buy! Buy!
I won't do it!!
The season's obligation has not my participation
Buy! Buy!
I won't do it!!
The money-hungry mating call of corporate swine
He monitors naughty and nice
Big brother is Saint Nick
Methodically his judgment made
Documented on his list
I don't believe in Santa Clause
Or his mystical facade
To teach the children wanton greed
Their lust for gifts becomes a need
Brainwashed by the marketing
And victims of the corporate scheme
Material possessions becoming their obsessions
Till human life has lost it's value
You blindly do just what they tell you
I don't believe!!!!
His tactics of intimidation repress the minds of youth
Using fear for generations, his image hides the truth
He's just a puppet for the system, a glutton in a suit
With Yuletide propaganda and a bearded mask to boot
The Vandals

Just a Thursday

Today was kind of a long day. I had class (and work) from 10 A.M. until 8:30 P.M. Nothing interesting really happened, except that I met Yoko.

We are going out tomorrow. She loves to drink, so it should be a good time.

After class, I went to Buffulo Wild Wings. I ordered take out and sat at the bar, waiting. I ordered a beer and lit a cigarrette. When i was putting the pack in my pocket, a drunk girl jumped and grabbed the smokes. It was halfway in my pocket, but she pulled them out and opened the pack. She asked if she could have one, and I said yes. Then she asked if she could have two. I agreed and she took them. She was really drunk and kept hitting on me. I just ignored her until she went away. The whole thing was really funny.

Anyways... I have decided to put a poem, or song, or something on my blog to make it more interesting. If you like it, let me know (or send me some and I will post it). Unfortunately, most of the ones I know are kind of dark. Sorry....

Here is one by Stephen Crane, author of The Red Badge of Courage. I can identify with it, sometimes. It is really dark.

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter -- bitter," he answered;
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

Stephen Crane

Wednesday

Today I had another class. Really it was a pretty normal day. After work I went home and washed my clothes, and then I picked Yuka up. We went to the mall and bought some clothes. Later, we came back home and I made Veal Scalopini Marsala. It was pretty good. This was the first time i have cooked with veal. I still like chicken SM better.

Oh well.

Tomorrow more classes.

Here is a poem i found by Yeats:

HAD I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet,
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams
W.B. Yeats
I just thought it was cool.

Tina, this one's for you....

I finished my second day of school, and everything was alright. Heath is in one of my classes, and Tina is, too. yay! Tina is a very "energetic" Taiwanese girl that I have been friends with for a long time. She is a really fun person. She said that she read my blog and was pissed because there were no pictures of her. Well....I don't have any pictures of you!!!! Send me some, and i will post them.

Anyways, I went to eat with my friends Kotaro, Aya, and Yuka at Ruby Tuesday's. It was pretty good. I had a burger and a beer.

I am excited. My friend Yoko should be in town tonight!!! I hope we can go out this weekend to the bars. If you read this, Yoko, call me!!!!

First Day of School

The first day of school was ok. I only had one class, Management, and we finished early. I think it should be an easy class, but there is a difficult paper due at the end of the semester. I should do ok.

After that I went to work in my office. It started off as a normal day, but then it all went to hell. I had about an hour left and Lori asked me to take and international student to get an ID and a book. He took forever, so i was late coming back. Then my boss told me that she needed copies made and a file to take to another building. I tried to use the copy room, but it was being used. So i went to another room, and tried to use the teacher's copier. The first page I copied got stuck, and no one could fix it. I was already running late, so i went back to my copier. I finally copied the pages, and went to the Eppley Building. I had to go back to my office, and i finished really late. Then the shuttle bus was running late.

I went home and tried to get a hold of my future roommate, but she was working. She has papers that i needed. I had to go to my other job, and luckily everything went ok from there. I eventually went over to Seika's apartment and got the papers.

Everything turned out ok in the end.

School Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the first day of the semester. I am kind of excited because it is my last. I will graduate in december (if I pass all of my classes, lol). I only have one class tomorrow, and it starts at 11:30. The class is management, and it is the second time I have taken it. The first time I was forced to drop because the teacher has a very unorthodox teaching style. This was the first and only class I have ever dropped, and the only class I would not have gotten at least a "B".

I am also taking Intro to International Economics, Politics of Japan and China, and International Marketing. My major is International Studies with a focus on Business. A couple of years ago I recieved a scholarship and went to Japan. I studied there for 6 months, and hope to go back eventually. I might go after I graduate and teach english for a year or two, or i will stay here and find a job.

After the Party

The party was a lot of fun. There were a lot of Latinos/Latinas and Japanese there. It always suprises me how different the two cultures are. When the music started, most of the Columbians started dancing, but few of the Japanese did. I think it is too much touching and closeness for the normally reserved Japanese.

Anyway, here is a pic of some of my friends. There is Aya, Yuka, Kana, Takashi, and Sanae.

If you want more pics, click on the "My Photos" link on the right. There are also pics of the time i spent in japan.

I really miss Shizuoka, and I hope to go back sometime.
